Ok, so I post this because a Hoosier from a radio station (103.9) I listen to when in South Bend scored the opportunity to interview Trujillo. Plus, Metallica’s new album is the best thing they’ve released since my 8th grade year. That’s over 15 years ago for those counting at home.
Oh happy day, A new Neko Case album! Her newest release, ‘Middle Cyclone” is due out March 3rd. You can check out her first single, ‘People Got A Lotta Nerve’, here. I like to boast that if I played 6 degrees of separation with Neko, I’m only 2 jumps away from knowing her. Her bassist, from Evansville, IN, is a cousin to my neighbor.
The track listing:
01 “This Tornado Loves You”
02 “The Next Time You Say Forever”
03 “People Got A Lotta Nerve”
04 “Polar Nettles”
05 “Vengeance Is Sleeping”
06 “Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth”
07 “Middle Cyclone”
08 “Fever”
09 “Magpie To The Morning”
10 “I’m An Animal”
11 “Prison Girls”
12 “Don’t Forget Me”
13 “The Pharaohs”

Neko also recently participated in a PSA for the Best Friends Animal Society seen here:
This is just awesome. I admit, I jumped on the Against Me! bandwagon a lot later than I should have. I don’t want to be one of those music snobs that says the earlier stuff is better than the later stuff. But with Against Me!, I think there is something to that. Reinventing Axel Rose and As the Eternal Cowboy are impressive works in that they were created with a sense of urgency that is just lacking in New Wave. Now I do like their latest effort a good deal. White People for Peace is a great protest song about protest songs. But even I, a newbie to the band, can tell something is missing. Enter frontman Tom Gabel’s solo album. In a wise move, Gabel keeps it real with some real sharp lyrics in an acoustic setting. Check out some video ‘wizardry’ as he plays Harsh Realms, a great tune off of his solo album.
